Troubleshooting Windows Media playback

Earthchannel ECStreams Streaming Service is based on Microsoft Windows Media Services Version 9. Windows Media Player versions 9 upwards should be able to play all live and on demand streams served by our servers.

Generally streams fail because of inability of the player to connect to our servers due to some interruptions between the player location and the server location along the internet pathways.

There are instances where the player is not installed correctly or has missing components. Some of these compatibility problems are due to the player's inability to parse the stream because of absence of a particular "codec" and the player feature to download needed codecs automatically has been disabled or is being prevented by security software.

The following links can help you determine and solve the problem.

If you are not able to connect to a particular stream/program, the following links may be helpful in determining the source of the problem. These are links to live 24/7 channels being served by Earthchannel ECStreams Media Servers. A standard installation of Windows Media Player should have no difficulty in playing back any of these streams.

Audio only
Live Video Sample 1
Live Video Sample 2

If you can play the Audio link, but cannot play the video links, it is likely to be a "codec" issue. Download the needed codec from Microsoft or enable the player to download the codec and other support files automatically as needed.

If you are able to play these streams, but still cannot connect to a specific program, please contact the content provider with any troubleshooting information you can provide, such as description of the error, the error code displayed by the player, Player version and Operating System type and version.
